“Hawks” is really not as bleak as it appears. It is a melodrama of sorts in black and white, highlighting the ways children insist on growing up and betraying us by soaring away to become fabulous amazing adults. Beautiful, multi-faceted and completely independent of their mothers. The poem I created for it from the old magazine bits reminds us that we still have connection. Foolproof: The scheme should almost touch in the heart of hawks Prove to yourself, without obligation, come back they’ll be rooted.
