We've always looked to the past for inspiration. We love 19th and early 20th century portraiture...the color, the brush strokes, the aged patina of the canvas. A mood, a moment, a feeling is captured there in the paint. As the world goes digital we find ourselves craving even more the lost art of taking brush to canvas...the folk art portrait.
We'd love for you to celebrate yourself, your loved ones, even your pets, with a customized handpainted portrait. Using photos and other essentials you can provide us, we'll work together to create a portrait painted especially for you. We're advocates of "art as decor" and we can take your color samples, fabric swatches, etc...and integrate them into your portrait.
You can be very specific with the details you'd like or you can give us a general idea. The price we have listed will give you a portrait with the same amount of detail as the portrait shown. You'll get one to two subjects with a colored background. A patterned background (vintage style wallpaper pattern, polka dots, stripes...) will cost additional. To add more people to the painting would bring some additional cost. There are so many options which we'd be more than thrilled to discuss with you. What we have listed is for your basic but fabulous portrait!
Oh, and as far as the specifics...you can email us your details or feel free to snail mail us your actual photos, fabrics, etc...We really love working with photobooth pics...in color or black and white. We can custom color your clothing, accessories etc...
The portrait you see of us measures 16" x 20". The listed price will include a custom painting up to that size and can include up to two subjects ( two people, two pets, one person, one pet, one person with pet etc.) You can have it painted on a stretched raised canvas which you can frame yourself or hang on it's own for a more primitive look. Or we can paint it on a canvas board. Your portrait will come signed, dated, and sealed with an acrylic clear coat. Once all specifics are determined allow four weeks for completion.
